Santosh Subramaniam

A well made remake, the story is about Santhosh (Jayam Ravi) who has it all - good looks, lots of money, loving family and a doting father but then there is a problem. He has it in such an overdose that there is never a chance he gets to express his thoughts and views openly. Everything is decided by his father Subramaniam(Prakashraj) who believes that he is the right man to make all the decisions on his son's behalf. He goes a step further and even decides the girl for Santhosh and an engagement is also done. Unable to open his mouth on anything, Santhosh is suffering from inside when Hasini (Genelia) walks into his life as a breath of fresh air. She is very energetic and so full of life that Santhosh is floored by her bubby nature and decides to make her his own. From then on starts a new challenge for him wherein he is keen on expressing his love to Hasini, then try and convince his dad Subramaniam to accept his choice and last but not the least handle the calling off of the wedding with his fiancée who is a sensitive girl. Does he get successful in all this? Watch the movie to know the outcome.

Full marks to the director for coming up with a clean entertainer which has taken a complete family audience into picture. The subject is very thoughtful, its presentation is excellent and the narration of the whole story has come with good maturity. The script is quite pacy and the screenplay has supported in a very strong manner, editing has been crisp and the real life of the film are the songs and the background score which has really captured the moods of the audience into the story. Jayam Ravi has come up with a good performance as rich boy without happiness and how he musters courage to face the upcoming challenges while Genelia proved a perfect choice as the bubbly and happy go lucky person and proved that she is not just a glam doll but a good actress as well. Prakash Raj as always came out with a stellar performance and needs no other words. There is a very impressive star cast of Kausalya, Geetha and others who have done their roles to perfection and even the comedy track by Premji and Santhanam was blended with good timing and healthy humor.

The Indian cinema is more in need of such good, classy entertainers which can be enjoyed by the entire family at one place. This is a remake of the Telugu hit 'Bommarillu' starring Siddharth and Genelia and the Tamil version has been upto the original version. The movie throughout goes at a very good pace with its doses of comedy, romance and sentiment and there is never a time when the audience gets bored. The film will find a red carpet welcome at the box office and if a gentle push is given from the makers with some more publicity, it can get into the 'hit' category or maybe a blockbuster too...
